#MabiniMabiskeg: A Fundraising Project for the Typhoon-Stricken Youth of Pangasinan

Typhoon Koppu (local name, Lando) is a super typhoon that hit Northern and Central Luzon in the Philippines, leaving a sore devastation to communities. Despite this, as nation of undeniable human spirit, we are
mabiskeg enough to go through anything. Mabiskeg is the Pangasinense term for strong and firm.

Mabini is a town in Western Pangasinan. It is one of the most devastated  by Typhoon Koppu (local name
Lando). In Mabini, schools are one of the hard-hit structures, and some of the structures are in isolated areas.
More often than not, people who watch the news or read the paper offer relief goods, clothes, medicines, and toiletries as forms of help. Only few give attention on the education of the children who are affected, how
the kids can go back to their schools.

This project is to maximize and spread out the help people can offer. This may sound little, but a notebook
can do so much especially that many families lost literally everything; it would help them get back on their feet and start again.

Furthermore, the focus is on education because I was a child in that town who experienced being evacuated and all that. I could have saved other things, but my Mom would tell me to save my bag. I resolve that to
parents, knowing that their children go back to school is quite a relief.

The main focus of the campaign is to consolidate school supplies, but it would be best to include basic needs like cash, relief goods, clothes, sheets, medicines, and toiletries because many families were not able to save a single thing due to flashfloods. For local cash donations, please contact Franz Marabe through 0999 551 4843. International cash donations are also accepted through online fundraising campaign via Indiegogo.
Anyone from abroad may click the link to donate. Rest assured all monetary donations will be converted
into helping the children go to school again. In Quezon City area, donations can be turned in through Romelie Tamares (0936 694 9555). For Makati area, reach Koko Alviar (0917 826 1557). The crowdsourcing
campaign runs until the 6th of November 2015. The items will be delivered on the 7th of  November 2015.

Another part of the project is to tap interested groups especially student organizations, fraternities, and
sororities to spearhead or partner with local teachers and government officials to help rehabilitate the
damaged schools. Interested parties may contact triumphjpaquino@gmail.com.

If typhoons can leave a mark, why can’t we? Let us help out and rebuild our nation together. As how they
put it, the Filipino spirit is waterproof.

Home Dreamin

As a young woman who's in the process of establishing a family, having a #PerfectHome we could call our own is a BIG dream. You see, before and after I got married, I've been renting out apartments. I've even labeled myself as a nomad. But I realized that all these years, I've been spending huge amount of money on something that won't even be mine.

This has got to stop and I should start working on this dream as soon as I can. So, last month, I began to set aside some portion of my income specifically for a house (Yay! and good luck to me!) And to boost my motivation, I looked up the web and found #Property24PH. It's a property listing site that is perfect for work-at-home peeps (and introverts!) like me. You get to explore different types of properties nationwide at the comfort of your own home. Thank goodness for technology.

I'm not really a Lorde fan, though I like singing to Royals and Team, but I strongly agree to her statement: "If your dreams don't scare you, they are not big enough."And so, as if buying a house isn't scary enough for me, I decided to dream of five. Yes, five.

By the power of #Property24, here they are in no particular order (drum roll please):
It is highly-accessible to shops, restaurants, and schools, among others. I don't really intend to live here but instead I was thinking, this is a perfect spot should my daughter decide to study in one of the nearby universities in the future.

 2.  Royal Palms Panglao

Bohol is such a heaven. The beach is soo beautiful and the Boholanos are awesome. That plus a beautiful property like this, I won't really bother living in the province anymore.

3. Silverdale Residences in Baliuag

Of course, I'd love to have a property located in my own province and Silverdale is one of the best options I have. It has amenities perfect for my small and soon to be growing family and it is located near the NLEX-Balagtas exit so traveling to and fro Manila should be a breeze.

As for my dream of having 5 kids (yes FIVE kids), a nice 6 bedroom house like this is perfect. It is also highly-accessible to the best schools in QC, the municipal hall, and more.

5. Executive 2 Bedroom condominium in Global City
Last but definitely not the least, a property in BGC. Who wouldn't want to have one in the country's fastest growing city in terms of businesses and social life? This building has super awesome amenities such as Reading Nook, Lawn and Picnic Area, Hammock Garden, Jogging Path, and soo much more.

I know, I know. These are pretty BIG dreams, but that's the point. If your dream is not crazy and funny enough, it's not that big. And one day, I'm gonna get all these, or similar to these in case they're not available anymore. :D

How about you? Any dream of having a new home? Try out #Property24PH. Property24.com.ph is the fastest growing property portal in the Philippines.  They provide an effective online platform for leading Real Estate Developers, Agencies and Brokers that allows them to showcase their property listings to a wider audience of qualified prospective Buyers. Dear Husband

Two years of being married. Wow. Can we give each other a pat in the back?

If our first year together was like a roller-coaster ride, the second one is quite the same, but with greater speed and intensity, if you know what I mean. But we both know we would not stay this way forever; the best is yet to come. One day, we'll get through this roller coaster, and we'll just be cruising together.

We do not have the typically inspiring love story to share, in fact, I think we have one of the worsts out there. I realized family and parenting stresses and two people with completely different personalities, not to mention different cultural background, are the perfect recipe for a disaster marriage. But I am proud of us. After all the brows we've raised, jobs we've lost, money we owe, and fights we've fought, we are still standing and fighting together for this relationship, for the family.

Two years ago, we've made one of the dumbest decisions we've ever had in our lives-- marrying each other. Back then, it was very easy to make a commitment because we were so in love and happy and we didn't have that much stress at all. But now, we know better. Marriage is far more than how the movies portray it. Marriage is not easy; it is not always romantic. But if I will be asked again if I would agree to marry you, knowing how difficult it is, I would still say yes. Because only this marriage and this family gave me direction and a sense of purpose in life, and only you and this marriage made me truly comprehend what 1 Corinthians 13:4:6 means.

Happy Anniversary.

Love,
Wife
